On 11th April 2007, the Competition Authority hosted a half day conference on merger control. The conference was aimed at practitioners largely in the legal community as well as consultants that may advise the Competition Authority and law firms.

The purpose was to discuss practical nuts and bolts issues that affect the way merger control works in Ireland. Some of these topics reflected impending changes (the Consolidated Jurisdictional Note at EU level); others reflected potential future changes (how the Act should be changed); and others on the way mergers are evaluated (use of economic evidence).  Further details are attached.
