This event was the third in the series which is being hosted by the Competition Authority and the Institute of International and European Affairs.
The speakers at this seminar on Global Co-operation in Competition Enforcement were
Marcus Bezzi
, the Executive General Manager of the Enforcement and Compliance Division at the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, and
Ana Maria Melo Netto
, from the Brazilian Ministry of Justice. Ms Neto is the Deputy Secretary of Economic Law at the Secretariat for Economic Law, which is the agency presiding over cartel and unilateral conduct investigation in Brazil.
The seminar provided an overview of global co-operation between competition authorities and agencies with a particular focus on the relationship beteween international anti-trust co-ordination, cartel formation and the effectiveness of leniency programmes. The speakers provided useful insights as to how information exchange between anti-trust authorities assists in the fight against global cartels.
Presentations from the seminar are available above.
