The Competition Authority hosted a seminar on the Authority's perspective on the civil fines condition in the EU/IMF Memorandum of Understanding.
Gerald FitzGerald, Member and Director of the Cartels and Mergers Divisions of the Competition Authority, outlined the Authority's position on how Ireland can meet its commitment to the EU/IMF to introduce civil fines.
David McFadden, Legal Advisor to the Competition Authority, addressed some of the apparent difficulties associated with the introduction of civil fines in Ireland.
The session was then opened to the floor for a Questions & Answers session.
The seminar took place on Monday 11 April 2011 in the Dublin Writers' Museum, Parnell Square.
